Air Commodore Phil Wilkinson - The Russian Bear

The Tu-95 Bear; For four decades this strategic bomber was a symbol of the formidable nuclear strength of the Soviet Union. By 1994, the Cold War was over but there was still much anxiety over what political character the new Russia would adopt un the post Soviet era. In these uncertain times, Air Commodore Phil Wilkinson helped to bring the once ferocious Tu-95 Russian Bear to the Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford, England.
